This position is GRANT FUNDED and continued employment is contingent upon available funding. JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, manages Maternal Child Health Grant; manages the budget and resources and assures compliance of program activities with State and Federal regulations.
Example of Duties
YPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Manages Maternal Child Health activities for the Public Health Services District (PHSD), including the Child Fatality Review Team.
Monitors program budget and communicates routinely with Arizona Department of Health Services per grant requirements. Attend contractor meetings.
Provides project management or oversight for special projects related to community health, and may be assigned to supervise or lead staff.
Conduct high-level health assessments with schools and community as needed to inform policies and planning related to childhood injury prevention and bullying prevention.
Provides liaison services to schools and businesses to identify and address public health issues for the PHSD.
Evaluate and assess public health issues, identify trends and gaps in the community to provide services.
Meets regularly and coordinates with key stakeholders, internally and externally, to connect people to health resources.
Participate in community events, including health fairs to promote PHSD programs and services.
Provide outreach, health education, materials, and resources to the community.
Coordinates training and cross-training programs and opportunities.
Collect, compile, analyze, and report data on PHSD services and programs.
Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Education or related field.
Two (2) years professional work experience in public health programs or educational environment.
Valid Arizona State Driver's License is required within 30 days of hire.
Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Public Health (MPH) or related field is strongly preferred.
Bilingual (English, Spanish) is preferred.
Supplemental Information
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of applicable Arizona Revised Statutes and County Ordinances regarding public health, including Arizona Public Health and Safety statutesA.R.S. §§ 36-3501 through 36-3523 and Maternal Child Health Grant Guidelines.
Knowledge of Federal and State Public Health program regulations and requirements, including Arizona Department of Health Services procedures and standards, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other grant funded programs.
Knowledge of regional community service agencies and other public assistance programs.
Knowledge of project management principles, and accounting rules and standards.
Skilled in interpreting and applying state laws, County ordinances, rules and regulations, and policies and procedures governing Community Health Nutrition Program functions.
Skilled in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands; and planning and coordinating the work of others.
Skilled in compiling and analyzing health data, and generating reports.
Skilled in operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software. Troubleshooting software and computer issues.
Skilled in providing effective customer service, and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
Ability to effectively present public health and safety topics to the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to crouch, type, handle, perform repetitive motion, speak, hear, walk, and demonstrate visual and mental acuity. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires the ability to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Position is located in a Health Office environment with exposure to hazardous chemical and infectious disease.
