Title: Security Officer

Under general supervision, the Park Security Officer is responsible for patrolling and inspecting Lake Winnepesaukah property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, employee/guest injury, illegal activity and/or inappropriate guest/employee activity in accordance with company policies and procedures. Security Officers will also assist in directing vehicles in parking areas, directing traffic, and assisting guests wherever possible. The Security Division is directly involved in loss prevention. Security Officers will carry a two way radio at all times while on duty. The Security Officer must also be able to respond promptly and efficiently to any situation, therefore, meal times are not scheduled, and will be taken at the discretion of the Safety & Security Department.
Unique Job Requirements:
The Security Officer provides verbal instructions to guests and/or employees in assigned areas of responsibility including patrol areas, parking areas, and security posts. The Security Officer monitors and responds to inappropriate guest and/or employee behavior, enforces rules and restrictions, regulates guest/employee actions, enforces state and local laws, and requests assistance from the Safety & Security Supervisors as needed.
Security Officers will patrol the entire park and additional property watching for any problems, assisting guests in finding or to find lost individuals, and acting as a Security Officer by preventing both property destruction and theft.
Security Officers will assist guests in parking areas by directing traffic on and off the park and directing cars where to park. In addition, Security Officers will assist employees with some vehicle problems.
Security Officers will monitor the entrance and exit of all employees, visitors, and vendors as well as direct them appropriately.
Security Officers will escort the Cash Control Department as they pick up and drop off money from various locations on the park.
The Security Officer must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
The Security Officer must be able to assist First Aid and Safety as needed.
Security Officers will assist in maintaining cleanliness and appearance of the park. Cleaning assignments may be made for designated areas of responsibility before, during, and after operational hours.
The Security Officer will perform duties during normal and unusual situations and will respond quickly to unusual situations.
The Security Officer must exhibit a high degree of motivation toward providing guest satisfaction by displaying a friendly approach to service guests. In addition, the Security Officer must be able to deal with many guests and/or employees each day in a positive and friendly manner.
The Security Officer must be flexible to work at different positions and must be knowledgeable of all work station requirements and functions.
During training periods, the Security Officer must be able to read and assimilate information provided in the Safety & Security Department Manual and the Seasonal Employee Handbook, and comprehend verbal instructions from the training supervisor.
The Security Officer will be working around high noise levels resulting from amusement rides and various other equipment. The Security Officer must be able to remain focused on the job while dealing with interruptions from guests and/or other employee contact.
The Security Officer must be willing to conform to Lake Winnepesaukah’s grooming and personal hygiene requirements and wear the proper issued uniform. A neat, clean, professional appearance is required at all times.
The Security Officer must be willing and able to perform all other job duties and assignments as assigned by management.
Each Security Officer will be working with all levels of the Safety & Security Department staff and various levels of other departments to which the Safety & Security Department operation is related.
Each Security Officer will be in contact with a high volume of guests and/or employees on a daily basis, which requires good guest service skills and ability.
This position is seasonal. Seasonal employees are at-will and may be terminated at any time, with or without cause and/or notice. Seasonal Employees perform their work at certain seasons and periods of the year. Their work, by its nature, is not continuous nor is it carried on throughout the year. A seasonal employee who is employed at the conclusion of the season will be terminated. A seasonal employee has no expectation in employment beyond the season in which he/she is hired. In a 12-month period, a Seasonal Employee works on average 32 hours or less per week and never more than 1400 hours in a 12-month period.
This position requires the employee to work a variable weekly schedule, five-six days a week from as early as 6:00 a.m. to as late as 1:00 a.m. including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A seasonal employee agrees to work as scheduled by Lake Winnepesaukah. Due to the seasonal nature of Lake Winnepesaukah’s business, the work schedule of a seasonal employee may vary from as few as zero (0) hours per week and may exceed fifty (50) hours per week during peak operational times.
Lake Winnepesaukah is a “seasonal amusement or recreational establishment” under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Therefore, all Lake Winnepesaukah employees are exempt from the overtime and minimum wage provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicants will be required to complete a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
Security Officers must have a valid drivers’ license.

Able to write legibly to complete reports.

Able to speak to give other employees and guests verbal instructions.
Able to work in a considerably noisy environment from equipment and amusement rides.
Able to perform work duties outside in varying weather conditions prevalent at the time.
Requires occasional early arrivals and/or late night departures.
