The purpose of this position is to work collaboratively with faculty to prepare and maintain clean, safe and properly functioning CCIS/CPLT labs and to support student learning within those learning spaces. This position will staff Open Labs and tutoring sessions to improve student understanding and use of concepts. This position will collaborate with SI tutors working with CCIS/CPLT faculty and the Centers for Student Achievement to communicate the various opportunities to support students. This position will also be responsible for performing basic repairs and general maintenance of the lab equipment, troubleshooting hardware and software issues while aligning to institutional technology standards. This position supports institutional equity and inclusion goals and outcomes. NOTE: Some tutoring sessions will require working at night to accommodate our evening students. NOTE: Must be able to travel between campuses and off-site locations. This position will be located at both Eden Prairie and Brooklyn Park campuses with Brooklyn Park as the home campus.
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)
Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in a ComputerApplications, Information Technology or Computer Science field
One year of teaching/tutoring experience in Computer Applications, Information Technology orComputer Science at the high school level or above
4 years of work experience in Computer Applications or Information Technology
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
Post-secondary degree in Information Technology or related field
Current industry technical Certification
Knowledge of multiple software programs and operating systems
Knowledge of computer hardware and troubleshooting skills.
Experience in tutoring or training adult learners.
Ability to engage and motivate students.
Sensitivity to a diverse student population.
Excellent interpersonal communications and human relations skills
Ability to work independently when assisting students.
Knowledge of student support services such as career development and educational planning.
Ability to work with college administration, faculty, staff and industry.
Availability to work varying second shift hours.
Knowledge of technical college goals and Hennepin Technical College’s mission.
