Purpose of Position
THIS POSTING WILL BE USED FOR ON-GOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED.
Why does the job exist?
This position coordinates and maintains daily office and business operations for the Department of Energy Oversight Bureau (DOE-OB) at the at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Oversight Section. The DOE-OB performs non-regulatory activities at DOE facilities in New Mexico.
How does it get done?
The incumbent provides administrative support to the DOE-OB LANL Oversight Section technical staff, including primary reception duties, processing mail, scheduling of meetings and training, preparing routine correspondence, maintaining office inventory, maintaining office health and safety documents and files, maintaining files and libraries, and tracking fleet vehicles.
Who are the customers?
The Bureau provides technical analysis of data, reports, and other documents to inform the public about Department of Energy Oversight Bureau (DOE-OB) activities in New Mexico and to assure the public that those activities are protective of public health and the environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
¿ Managing the front-of-house for an office, including greeting visitors, answering phone calls, routing correspondence, receiving goods and deliveries, scheduling activities, and maintaining records;
¿ Drafting correspondence, reports, documents, spreadsheets, and other materials for professional staff review; and ¿ Inputting data into spreadsheets and developing graphs, charts, and tables.
High School Diploma or Equivalent and three (3) months of directly related experience in office administration. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Education Experience 1 High School Diploma or Equivalent AND # of months or years of experience specified in the minimum qualification 2 Associate's Degree AND Zero years of experience
Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
This position is split between an office, laboratory, and field locations. Approximately 90% of the work will be conducted in an office setting. The remainder will be inventory/asset management work completed in a laboratory setting or field locations. Work is normally conducted Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Work includes the use of personal computers, office equipment, and lifting to 75 pounds.
