Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Census Bureau employees will be either under mandatory or maximum telework through December 31, 2020. The Census Bureau continues to closely follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Office of Management and Budget, Office of Personnel Management, and state and local health authorities to ensure the safety of its workforce. You are encouraged to work closely with your immediate supervisor regarding any changes related to reporting to the Suitland Federal Center. You will be required to relocate and report to the Suitland Federal Center to begin your employment immediately upon receiving notification. Please note that with regard to your relocation there are regulatory time limitations and activities that you must meet in order to receive reimbursement, and if you fail to properly adhere to them you will not be entitled to reimbursement for your relocation expenses.
To be minimally qualified for this position, applicants MUST have a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors based on a five-minute sample.
In addition to the above basic requirements, you must also meet the following specialized experience.
For the GS-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service.
Experience for this position includes: assisting in the preparation of administrative documents, such as budget planning documents, procurement requests, requests for phone and equipment service/repair, and requests for keys, and maintaining personal property control and inventory of office supplies and equipment; reviewing and maintaining time and attendance reports and notifying timekeepers of problems/discrepancies to be resolved; receiving/distributing mail; maintaining and updating operating procedures and manuals; maintaining employee records; reviewing travel orders and vouchers; scheduling meetings; developing and maintaining an office tracking system; and/or proofreading, editing, and preparing correspondence.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
For the GS-08, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service.
Experience for this position includes: work experience updating and maintaining automated systems; assisting with the preparation and planning of projects; researching information for assigned projects; assisting in the preparation of policy and procedures; scheduling meetings; developing and maintaining an office tracking system; assisting in the preparation of administrative documents, such as budget planning documents, procurement requests, requests for phone and equipment service/repair, and requests for keys; maintaining personal property control and inventory of office supplies and equipment; receiving, tracking, and responding to facilities complaints; reviewing and maintaining time and attendance reports and notifying timekeepers of problems/discrepancies to be resolved; receiving/distributing mail; maintaining and updating operating procedures and manuals; maintaining employee records; reviewing travel orders and vouchers; and/or proofreading, editing and preparing correspondence.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
