POSITION DESCRIPTION

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT COORDINATOR

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

SUPERVISES: All district employees assigned to Title 1, 35a, and 31a programs.

JOB GOALS: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to address educational development learning loss for all students via student achievement, curriculum, and professional development goals.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must possess a Master's degree in education.
2. Successful experience in K-12 instruction preferred.
3. Knowledge or experience of Michigan rules and regulations for federal programs, 504, and/or curriculum preferred.
4. Must have a strong technology background.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee system for benchmarking assessment including employee setup, district and building preferences, troubleshooting, and consistent implementation of district assessment practices.
2. Compiles benchmarking data at district level to assist with district strategic planning and staff professional development goals.
3. Compile and analyze data and trends with building administrators to inform student achievement, curriculum, instruction, summer school, before/after school learning, and similar programs.
4. Lead faculty in selection and use of assessment tools to make decisions about instructional needs.
5. Coordinate training in areas of assessment including literacy, formative assessment practices, using data to inform instruction, and district, building, teacher, and student goal setting.
6. Support teacher professional learning in real time through coaching, mentoring, modeling, observing and providing feedback on implementation of effective instructional practices.
7. Work with teachers individually, in collaborative teams, and/or with departments, providing practical support on a full range of reading, writing, and communication strategies
8. Establish common structure in documentation forms for administrator and teacher use.
9. Conduct regular meetings with classroom teachers to examine student work and monitor progress to support teacher reflection and action.
10. Assist classroom teachers with analysis of formal and informal assessment data on their students to determine student response to instruction.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (continued)
11. Assist teachers with planning, sequencing, and scaffolding of instruction and locating appropriate resources to support learning
12. Oversees implementation of District-wide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
13. Remains current on research based interventions and instructional practices to support MTSS.
14. Consults with and assists building administrators, teachers, psychologists, social workers, school nurse, parents and others to meet the educational and behavioral needs of students through MTSS.

TITLE I, 504, & ELL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains an effective learning climate in the Title 1, 31a, 35a, and other similar grant programs.
2. Plans, organizes and directs implementation of all program activities.
2. Assists in monitoring of expenditures of grant funds.
3. Prepares or supervises preparation of reports, records, lists and other paperwork required or appropriate to the programs’ administration.
4. Assumes responsibility for implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by program staff and students.
5. Leads in the development, revision, and evaluation of the program and curriculum used.
6. Plans and attends annual parent nights.
7. Supervises and provides input for evaluation of all professional, paraprofessional, administrative and non-professional personnel assigned to the program.
8. Oversee grant funding to support needed professional development as identified in District and School Improvement Plans.
9. Consults with and assists building administrators, teachers, psychologists, social workers, school nurse, parents and others to meet the educational needs of students eligible under Section 504.

  • 12 Months Per Year
