The Human Resources Clerk will provide varied administrative and clerical services to support the day-to-day activities of our Human Resources department including management of our paper filing systems.


  • Manage paper files of information for current and former employees including personnel files, I9s, unemployment compensation requests, and other documents for the HR department. Audit files as needed or requested.

  • Assist HR Team in management of electronic files.

  • Route incoming mail and prepare outgoing departmental mail.

  • Screen and route departmental telephone calls.

  • Helps prepare accurate and timely reports.

  • Prepare routine departmental correspondence; copy, scan, and fax documents as requested.

  • Print, organize, and file personnel documents.

  • Greet scheduled visitors in HR and route them to appropriate person or area. Assist unscheduled visitors.

  • Coordinate and arrange meetings and events; prepare agendas; reserve facilities and equipment.

  • Identify and meet the needs of internal and external customers; coordinate with the HR team to resolve needs of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain current skills regarding modern office procedures and technology; utilize this in the performance of duties.

  • Work with the Technology Services department on creation of accounts for new employees.

  • Complete employment verification requests with accuracy.

  • Update HR forms as needed and assist with file retention and purging of outdated records.

The above duties are not all-inclusive; rather they illustrate the type of work assigned to a position incumbent. All listed duties are considered essential functions of the job. Responsible to participate in implementing, coordinating, and documenting activities as they relate to the position.


Education & Experience:

  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Work experience in HR or similar clerk experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required.

Knowledge of:

  • Office management techniques, modern office procedures.
  • Filing and record maintenance.
  • Correct English usage such as grammar, punctuation, sentence construction, capitalization, vocabulary, etc.
  • Receptionist and telephone techniques.
  • HR operations (recruiting, onboarding, training, compensation, benefits and compliance) preferred.
  • Basic labor legislation preferred.
  • HR Information Systems a plus.

  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Committed to maintaining confidential information.
  • Organizing, planning, and working on multiple projects simultaneously and working under pressure.

  • Solve problems both independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess a high level of integrity and professionalism; be self-motivated; dependable and outgoing in interactions with others.
  • Read, comprehend, and comply with College policies and procedures and with federal and state laws and regulations.


  • Extensive use of hands/wrists for keyboarding.
  • Must be able to reach overhead and bend to access files.
  • Must be able to occasionally walk stairs and lift/carry weights of up to 5 pounds.
