Department or School Site
Project A School Administrative Assistant manages a school office, performs
administrative assistance for a school administrator and is responsible
for the supervision of the clerical activities of a school.

Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS).
Vacation: Two weeks of paid vacation to start. Three weeks after five
years of year-round paid service.
NOTE: The School Administrative Assistant position will be offered on an
11-month basissalary and paid time off for 11 month positions will be
adjusted accordingly.
Job Duties/Responsibilities Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
procedures in a school office to ensure timely preparation and
submission of reports, records, studies, letters, and other materials.
attendance, curriculum, personnel, organization, budgeting, accidents,
student grades, special programs, time reporting, and requisitions and
purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
maintaining an appointment calendar, receiving visitors, screening
telephone calls and mail, and composing communications from general
instructions or rough notes.
school business including payroll, procurement, financial reports,
attendance, personnel matters, and secretarial duties.

Minimum Requirements PROMOTIONAL STATUS IS REQUIRED. You must be a current or
retired employee of LAUSD with 130 paid days in regular status in the
Classified Service or permanent status in the Certificated Service or
have been laid-off within the past 39 months from a regular, permanent
LAUSD position in which you passed probation.
To be considered a permanent employee and be eligible to compete in a
promotional job opportunity, you must have completed a probationary
period of 130 days of paid service in a regular status job within the
LAUSD’s Classified service. Additionally, applicants who are permanent
status employees in the LAUSD Certificated service (teachers, school
administrators, counselors, etc.) are also eligible to participate in the
employment assessment process for promotional only job opportunities.
Applicants who are employed with LAUSD in substitute, temporary, or
restricted status are not promotional candidates, and cannot be
considered for this job opportunity. Furthermore, employees who have
resigned or have been dismissed from service with LAUSD, are not
eligible to participate as promotional candidates.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational
proficiency.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Two years of experience in office clerical work, preferably including one
year of experience performing clerical work in a school office.
NOTE: Completion of a course of at least 30 hours in supervision at an
adult school or recognized college or university or a certification of
completion of the instructor-led ’s
Organizational Excellence School Administrative Assistant (SAA) Boot
Camp Training Program may be substituted for one year of the
aforementioned experience.

Employment Selection Process The selection process TENTATIVELY consists of a computerized
multiple-choice assessment and a written project/technical interview
Due to the closure of LAUSD schools and statewide measures set in
place to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus, testing will be
conducted remotely.

Confidentiality Form for both the written test and the technical
interview/written project. Failure to submit these forms before the given
deadline will result in the withdrawal of your application from the
