As the Financial Aid Outreach Coordinator, this position will be responsible for the mission of the Enrollment Management area and the Office of Financial Aid by ensuring the delivery of financial assistance to university students; providing student counseling and processing support; developing and monitoring outreach efforts, interactive media and other duties as assigned. Manages the Virginia Military Survivors and Dependents Education Program (VMSDEP). Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities Considerable knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Working knowledge of financial aid and administrative service programs. Working knowledge of information systems (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft, or a similar program). Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated skill with PC-based software to include Microsoft Office Suite to include manipulating data and producing reports. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and make decisions. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex program regulations. Demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of others. Considerable knowledge of social media and event planning to support the agency’s mission. Special licenses, registration or certification None Education or training None Level and type of experience Considerable experience in the Financial Aid profession or a related field. Considerable experience providing customer service and administrative support in an intense high-volume public contact environment. Considerable experience with public speaking experience, presentations and/or delivering training. Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degrees. Comprehensive experience in the Financial Aid profession to include making decisions concerning financial aid awards. Considerable experience with public speaking and delivering training in a higher education environment. Considerable experience using Banner. Conditions of Employment Given the nature of the positions in Student Engagement & Enrollment Services that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing as directed by his or her supervisor. These instances may include working from a remote location (i.e. telework, etc.).
