SUMMARY The Loan Servicing Specialist is responsible for performing duties related to commercial, SBA and consumer loans; processes consumer, commercial, SBA and real estate loan payments and advances. Other duties include new account system maintenance to include manual boarding of loans. Ensures compliance with established Company policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Bank Secrecy Act in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Customer Information Program, Right to Financial Privacy Act (state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1.Provides support to all assigned areas of the department where service or assistance is needed; acts as a backup for various loan servicing department positions and functions. 2.Performs account research; processing consumer, commercial and real estate loan payments. 3.Processes payments from payment reserve accounts. 4.Serves as backup to Collection efforts. 5.Works with insurance policies and related reports, contacts agents; works closely with loan officers and customers to ensure proper insurance is received and maintained; works Real Estate Tax Reports and performs escrow analysis and disbursement of insurance and or tax payments. 6.Performs new account system maintenance including but not limited to manual boarding of loans when necessary. 7.Responds to written and phone inquiries from customers and internal personnel regarding loans issues and requests in addition to responding to payoff demands. 8.Escalates customer calls and/or problem accounts as appropriate. 9.Provides effective customer service and assists in resolving problems within given authority. 10.Calculates loan pay off amounts for all types of loans. 11.Operates computer terminal or personal computer to process loan activity, determine balances, and resolve problems within given authority. 12.Performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. High School Diploma and at least 2+ years of related experience and/or training; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Work related experience should consist of a loan servicing background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
Work related experience and/or training must consist of an in-depth background in loan documentation and servicing. Must have extensive knowledge of SBA loan documentation and commercial loan documentation to include knowledge of SBA 7a & 504 loan programs.
Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, Bank operational policies and procedures, and the Bank’s products and services.
Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
Basic math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
Ability to deal with problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities
