Merchant Services is the global payment processing business for & Co and the world's leading merchant acquirer with over $1+ trillion in annual transaction volume. Merchant Services is a leading provider of payment, fraud and data security for companies large and small and capable of authorizing transactions in more than 130 currencies.

The Tokenization Team is leading the development of turn-key solutions for merchants to securely tokenize, store and update their customers' sensitive payment information. This would allow the merchants to enhance their security, reduce their PCI scope and get the most out of their payment information. These solutions play a critical role in Merchant Services value proposition both by simplifying our merchants' security requirements while helping optimize their payment processing performance.

As an Executive Director, Checkout Services, you will have responsibility for driving the development and execution for the J.P. Morgan Merchant Services (MS) Checkout strategy. The role will have significant influence on a fast-growing payments business undergoing transformation by defining long-term technology and business strategy to offer secure payment products and services to meet current needs and develop the framework for ongoing enhancements.

In addition, the role will be responsible for developing the product capabilities, operating processes, controls, and key performance measures that will support the deployment of the solution.

The ideal candidate will work seamlessly with other leaders in the Product and Technology organizations across the various lines of business to develop and execute the product roadmap necessary to make Merchant Services the leading and preferred payment processing of choice for our clients and merchants.

In this capacity, the leader will work across the business extensively and must demonstrate the ability to navigate a matrixed environment.


  • Lead JPMC product strategy and execution for Checkout and Checkout optimization>
    • Define and execute product strategy around key experiences
    • Define key metrics for success and analyze the user impact of product features
    • Deeply understand our customers' needs, both merchants and shoppers
    • Deep focus on seamless and simple yet top notch client experience, conversion funnels and have a clear strategy on how to measure and improve
    • Become the SME and point person for Checkout subject area
    • Influence important partners throughout the organization to align intent, resources, and prioritization
    • Work closely with partners inside and outside the organization to ensure the delivery of the best technology stack, testing capabilities and efficient execution
  • Product Definition and Strategy
    • Work closely with cross functional partners and clients to understand merchant / internal client needs, changes in industry landscape, and help drive Checkout capabilities supporting these needs
    • Define and responsible for the Checkout capabilities, interfaces and integration for services offered by or consumed by Checkout Service
  • Product Development
    • Lead the Checkout Solution development, commercial enablement and user flows /experience
    • Work with a cross-functional team to deliver holistic value-adding solutions, identifying and managing delivery risks, whilst ensuring alignment with cross-team dependencies
    • Partner with teams (product, design, technology, risk, legal, compliance, ops, marketing, sales...) to manage prioritization and resourcing
    • Strong collaboration with Merchant Services Architecture and Product team to ensure that that the solution is aligned with our defined target-state architecture.
    • Define seamless integration end points to help normalize client experience
    • Collaborate with product, business, platform teams to arrive at commonalities between features and capabilities to reduce redundancies, gain synergies and establish orchestrated means so they can be leveraged cross platform
    • Detailed reviews of technology programs and assess their alignment with strategic architecture and business aims, engineering practices, and efficient working practices
    • Establish product flow documentation, ensuring the integration of internal systems and operations that interface with the Processing Platforms
  • Communication
    • Communicate product and process changes to stakeholders across the business and be the Checkout subject matter expert
    • Effective communicate and share understanding across our engineering and business communities with lessons learned, issues and best practices.
  • Product Management
    • Manage the roadmap, and the product backlog using an Agile development methodology
    • Identify potential roadblocks and create plans to address them including the developing recommendations for delivery issues
    • Manage internal risk and compliance review processes to support launch and ensure a strong control environment
    • Manage day-to-day priorities in relation to new Checkout functionalities and features by working closely with functional partners and by providing expert support to front, middle and back office.
    • Monitor industry assessment that provides detailed insights into the competitive landscape and best practices
    • Work closely with the Commercialization team on the go-to-market plan

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant product experience in payments and in particular. Technology and architecture experience is a plus
  • Strong expertise and experience in Merchant Acquiring and payment processing is a must
  • Minimum of 5 years in Payments and Digital Commerce
  • Prior experience in large scale internet companies/technologies / payments, where uptime and continuous availability is core to the business
  • Work experience in high scale critical systems, enabling business models through business process management tools and orchestration
  • Proven track record at leading high performing teams across multiple geographies
  • Proven track record of managing the end-to-end product development lifecycle for complex, large-scale initiatives using Agile methodology
  • Proven track record of managing new product launches of mission-critical payment platforms
  • Strong technology delivery skills: well-organized, structured approach, ability to achieve tight timelines on complex deliverables
  • Strategic thinker that combines strong technical skills and creative problem solvingturning strategy into actionable platform roadmap and delivery plans
  • Ability to translate product requirements into phased platform features and capabilities followed by execution in agile fashion
  • Strong ability to analyze opportunities & problems, recommend solutions, and communicate effectively & confidently (both verbal and written)
  • Establish strong bridge between technical and business testing for quality products and services
  • Strong influencing and partnership / collaboration skills to drive cross-functional teams
  • Strong executive presence; comfortable interacting with and presenting to all levels of management
  • Demonstrated communication skills to work across the organization to influence others, drive results/change and implement projects/processes effectively
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Travel requirement: approximately 25% (as health & travel conditions permit)
