The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards the smallest jail system possible without compromising public safety. The DOC is solely responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, volunteers and people in custody inside our jails. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to providing people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re- enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with over 10,000 diverse professionals and knowledge experts.
The DOC seeks to recruit a Records Analyst (Part-Time). The selected candidate will be responsible for but not limited to;
  • Performs records transfer internally within agency as directed;
  • Ensures records are correctly classified;
  • Performs daily filing;
  • Processes electronic records into document management form and other applicable systems;
  • Ensures requests for return or transfer of records are properly and timely processed;
  • Performs database searches, audits and record reviews to ensure records are imported and exported according to applicable criteria;
  • Ensures all transfer requests are timely documented, and that transfer is implemented in accordance with the retention schedule;
  • Assists in pick-up and transfer of files to facilities on Island;
  • Works on special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qual Requirements Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. Preferred Skills
  • 6 months of experience in records information;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office productivity applications, and experience
using SharePoint or other collaborative file sharing systems;
  • Data entry and excel familiarization
  • Ability to access, input, analyze, and retrieve information from various computer applications and to
learn and utilize new applications on an expedited basis;
  • Superb communication and written skills;
  • Excellent organization, problem solving and critical thinking skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills;
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy,
professionalism and client-service orientation.
  • Able to lift up to 10 pound of documents on a daily basis.
