This position is located in the Warehouse area of the Logistic Service in the Bedford VISN 1 Veteran Affairs Health Care System and supported catchment area, performing warehouse work that involves receiving, storing, selecting, and shipping general or specialized materials and equipment. The primary purpose of this position is to provide warehousing, distribution and receiving of supplies goods/equipment to and from offsite locations.
Operates and maintains various powered industrial vehicles.
Handles delivering and warehousing materials including hazardous, flammable and temperature sensitive products.
Reads, writes, and maintains files of various government and commercial documents to include turn in requests, discrepancy reports shipping/receiving documents, etc.
Maintains accurate inventory for all materials and equipment.
Uses forklifts, manual and mechanized pallet jacks, and other loading and storage mechanisms.
Understands how to load supply carts, vehicles or pallets to ensure safety and most efficient process.
Prepares authorized materials for shipment (both small packages and bulk).

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The position requires heavy lifting and carrying; 45lbs and over, frequent pushing, reaching above shoulders, using fingers, both hands are required, walking and standing for 3 hours, repeated bending for 2 hours, operation of crane, truck, tractor or motor vehicle, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to jaeger 1 to 4, Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, ability to distinguish shades of colors, hearing (aid permitted), emotional stability, intelligible speech.
